On Sunday (May 20), I’m curating a Machine Project performance/workshop event at the New Children’s Museum in San Diego. The project, titled Musical Trash Birthday Bash, celebrates the 4th birthday of the museum with 5 projects involving sound and garbage.

Since December of last year, I’ve been sound designing and composing music for Emily Brundige‘s animated web-series, Pubertina, which premieres on May 2 on Smosh’s Shut Up! Cartoons Channel on YouTube. The 10-part series, which airs on Wednesdays, can best be described by it’s one-liner: “Life is hard when you’re an 11-year-old going through that awkward stage.”

On Feb. 7, 2012, I asked 22 people to tell me the last thing that they listened to that day (right before receiving my message). After each person replied with the name of a song, composition, podcast, etc., I wrote a track using samples from each without adding effects to the sounds (except EQ).

Eusong Lee‘s animated short, SHAPE, screens at the LA Animation Festival this Sunday (March 11) at noon. The film that I sound designed last year appears with several other great recent CalArts films as well as classics from alum directors like John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton and Pete Docter.

Meejin Hong’s Soil, screens at Slamdance Film Festival 2012 on Jan. 22 and 25. Meejin and I sound designed the animation last spring. From Meejin’s notes:

As imagery transforms between figurative and abstraction, Soil explores the life cycle of an organism and dualities within human nature.

UPDATE: The film will also screen at the 2012 Ann Arbor Film Festival.
