‘King Lear and the Fool in the Storm’ by William Dyce (1806–1864)
2011 is shaping up to be amazing! Starting this month with my final semester at CalArts, I’m particating in a theater project, titled Lear/Layer, which will be a presentation of intercultural collaborative work by CalArts and Chung Ang University (Seoul, Korea). I will be writing music for this 75-minute contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, which will be one of the added layers of language (English and Spanish), animation, movement, and video.
I’m also currently finishing up work on a new piece for bass trombone and percussion, commissioned by Paul Rivera to be premiered at his concert on March 12th at CalArts, as well as a film score.
