Meejin Hong’s Soil, screens at Slamdance Film Festival 2012 on Jan. 22 and 25. Meejin and I sound designed the animation last spring. From Meejin’s notes:

As imagery transforms between figurative and abstraction, Soil explores the life cycle of an organism and dualities within human nature.

Here’s a vid shot from inside Nate Page’s Storefront Plaza installation at Machine Project during a recent event I curated, titled Alvarado Remix. There were 2 mics located out on the street in the windows of the apartment above. These sounds were remixed by 8 performers throughout the afternoon to create varying soundscapes. Above, is a one by Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir.

In September, I wrote music for Deena Selenow’s production of Max Frisch’s The Firebugs. The action of the play is observed by a Greek-style chorus of firemen, and I set their lines to music.


Lots of new projects coming up in the next month, including music and sound design for a new web series, sound directing an animated exquisite corps project and shooting a music video for piece of mine for LA Stylophonic.
