Personal Work

Swaying

Choral Piece

A 1-minute piece for 4-part chorus (sung by Emma Zakes Green) and 2 synths (overdubbed OB-6 and Super 6). This ongoing, multi-year experiment involves iterating on the same material for as many different ensembles as possible. It’s based on this original idea.

Taxi Cab

Experimental Animation

I had a blast concocting the dense and lightning-fast audio for this beautiful animation by Benjamin Anders.

Mexico & Stay Inside All Day

Shoegaze Songs

My songwriting partner Emma and I focused on layering our vocals in an effort to create an androgynous sound for these shoegaze tracks.

Sunset 2B

Leftover Animation Cue

I have so many leftover musical ideas that don’t get used for one reason or another. This particular theme was meant for an animated scene in which the main characters are witnessing a sunrise. I really like how these textures combine in the mix.

Nightbears

Experimental Electronic (Collage) EP

An EP of densely composed, uptempo electronic tracks based on my nightmares at the time.

Odd Duck

Leftover Theme Song for Animation

This theme song features the perfect blend of “mouth” and “real” instruments, featuring vocalist and “mouth trumpeter” Emma Zakes Green.

Eddie’s CTK

Minimalist Piece for Casio CTK-431

In 2018, my neighbor’s brother-in-law Eddie passed away. More recently I inherited his Casio CTK-431. So, I wrote him a tiny piece with it.

GIF-JAM

Experimental Animation

GIF-JAM! is a 5-minute montage of GIFs created by 40 artists. The music is essentially 5 minutes of variations on a theme, which was composed first before it was set to video.

Weekly Splice

A Collection of Short Sound Collages

Weekly Splice was a series where I collected one recorded sound or other fair-use sound per day of the week. On Sundays, I had less than 2 hours to splice the 7 sounds together to create short songs & soundscapes. Above are my favorites.

Gatecrasher

Piece for Solo Piano

This piece was inspired by rhythms and drum patterns found in electronic music.
